Hoskin and Lukasik take debut EDR wins in Poland
Hoskin is first Canadian and non-UK or Frenchwoman to win the elite women's category at an Enduro World Cup race
The Enduro World Cup continues to serve up new talent to the top step of the podium. After Dan Booker’s surprise victory in Italy, it was Elly Hoskin and Slawomir Lukasik who found the fastest flow on the trails of Bielsko-Biała, Poland.
Hoskin’s ride in the elite women’s category was also a historic one. As a Canadian, she is the first non-UK or Frenchwoman to win an Enduro World Cup, which includes the Enduro World Series years as well. That’s a wild stat on it’s own, and very cool that other nationalities are getting their due.
Raphaela Richter opened the day with a stage win on the first stage, with Hoskin just over a second back and Morgane Charre trailing in third. Hoskin entered the race lead after winning stage two though, while a second place performance from Delia Da Mocogno allowed her to enter the top 5.
Richter won stage 4 and went back into the overall lead, taking the battle to the final and fifth stage of the day. Ella Conolly won the final stage, but a second place from Hoskin and a DNF from Richter (crash; dislocated shoulder) allowed Hoskin to take the overall win.
Elly Hoskin: 26:46
Ella Conolly: 27:32 (+45.8)
Morgane Charre: 27:38 (+51.8)
Barbora Vojta: (+1:18)
Delia Da Mocogno: 28:13 (+1:26)
Slawomir Lukasik wins in his home country
Lukasik is no stranger to the sharp end of enduro racing, just missing out on the win last week in Italy and placing 2nd overall in the 2024 standings. It all came together today for the Pole racing in his home country.
Lukasik won the first three stages of the day and had an 11 second advantage in the standings ahead of Louis Jeandel, Greg Callaghan, Marco Osborne, and Jack Moir.
Moir and Callaghan raced to fast times on stage 4, and a 14th for Lukasik ate into his lead, leaving him with just 4 seconds. Moir won the final stage, but a second place stage result from Lukasik was enough to keep the lead and win with a margin of 6 seconds after 23 minutes of racing.
Slawomir Lukasik: 23:26
Jack Moir: 23:32 (+6.040)
Greg Callaghan: 23:34 (+7.939)
Louis Jeandel: 23:41 (+14.857)
Ryan Gilchrist: 23:44 (+18.395)
Lukasik now holds the lead in the season overall standings, and two second place finishes for Conolly have catapulted the Brit into the lead in the women’s standings.
The next Enduro World Cup race on the calendar is in two weeks in Loudenvielle, France.
