Team Rumors: Loana Lecomte, Tom Pidcock, Nino Schurter, and more

The racing season is coming to a close, and naturally, chatter is beginning to emerge about who is racing for whom next season. World Cup XCO rider contracts are often tied to the Olympic cycle, with riders looking to cash in on a good result in Paris or find a team that will set them up well for 2028.

The possible World Cup reforms are also simmering in the background. There could be changes to how teams work and interact with the MTB World Series next year, but with contract talks beginning months ago, the rumored changes may not be as big a factor in who is going where. Ryan MTB understands that the leaked document is authentic, but it’s unclear which changes will be approved by the UCI by next season.

Ryan MTB will be tracking the rumors, team, and sponsor changes throughout the off-season and bringing you coverage and analysis, starting today.

Nino Schurter extends with Scott-SRAM

The mountain bike world was left with a bit of suspense after the final race of the season in Mont-Sainte-Anne when Nino Schurter said he had an announcement to make. Schurter is one of the GOATs of mountain biking and one of the older riders in the XC bunch, and this year could have been a natural stopping point for the decorated athlete.

However, Schurter has not said the R-etirement word yet. He announced in a video that he will continue racing in 2025 with the Scott-SRAM program and is particularly motivated by a ‘home’ World Cup round in Lenzerheide and the World Championships in Crans Montana.

Schurter’s teammate Kate Courtney may be on the move. Her contract is up at the end of this year, and she is also at a turning point in her career. She did not make the US Olympic team for Paris, and has recently made changes to her support team including hiring a new coach. It would be natural for Courtney to potentially move teams, however nothing has been confirmed.

Also of note: SRAM and RockShox’s contracts with the team are up this year as well. Could one of the most-respected teams in the paddock be in for a component change? We’ll see.
